Eintracht Norderstedt has signed 19-year-old Ediz Eroglu, former captain of FC St. Pauli U19, as a striker. The 1.90 m right-footed player captained the U19 DFB Youth League until summer, scoring twelve goals and providing five assists in 23 matches. Eroglu spent four years in the youth development centre of Hamburger SV.
Transfer
Sport director Frank Spitzer explained in club media that Manuel Brendel’s injury weakens Eintracht Norderstedt’s attack. "We kept our eyes open for a young, hungry player who wants to prove himself and take the next step through the Regionalliga," Spitzer said. Coach Özden Kocadal added that Eroglu is a player who can quickly adapt to the intensity of senior football.
Expectations
Eroglu himself expressed optimism: "I am very pleased to take my first steps in the senior squad at Eintracht Norderstedt. The trust and good talks confirmed my decision." He stresses that he wants to give everything, develop further and support the team with goals and effort.
Norderstedt in the fight
After four games in the Regionalliga Nord, Eintracht Norderstedt sits at five points. The team started with two draws, then won 6:2 against BSV Kickers Emden, but most recently lost 1:4 to VfB Oldenburg. Next Sunday faces the tough opponent SC Weiche Flensburg 08.
Conclusion
With Eroglu, Spitzer hopes the young striker will quickly acclimate and take on the intensity of senior football. The signing is meant to strengthen the attack after Brendel’s injury and bring a developing talent from the Hamburg area aboard.
