FC St. Pauli announced a contract extension with goalkeeper Ben Voll on Tuesday. The 25-year-old has secured his long-term future as the first-choice keeper for the second-division club, which currently sits seventh in the table with 12 points from nine games.

Sporting director Andreas Bornemann praised the player's development. "Ben has developed into an important player for us through his performances, his attitude and his daily work," said Bornemann. He described the collaboration as being characterised by great mutual trust and expressed conviction that Voll still has further potential. The new contract runs until 30 June 2028.

Voll, who joined from Viktoria Köln in the summer of 2024, assumed the number one role following the departure of Nikola Vasilj. He has made 14 competitive appearances for St. Pauli so far, including nine in the 2. Bundesliga. His career path took him from the youth ranks at Hansa Rostock to 68 third-division games for Köln before his move to Hamburg.

The keeper, born in Bergisch Gladbach, emphasised his comfort at the club. "I feel very comfortable at FC St. Pauli and have felt great trust here from the beginning," said Voll.

A Stable Foundation for the Season

The contract extension provides planning security for a team showing a solid foundation this season. St. Pauli are seventh in the standings with 12 points from nine matches. The team is unbeaten in its last five league games, with a record of one win and four draws. This run includes results against Energie Cottbus (1-1), Borussia Mönchengladbach (1-1), Karlsruher SC (2-0), Hannover 96 (1-1) and most recently Darmstadt (0-0).

The most recent result was a 0-0 draw away to Darmstadt. The next fixture is at home against second-placed 1. FC Nürnberg on Saturday, 31 October. At this stage of the campaign, stability within the squad, especially in the key goalkeeping position, is a valuable asset. The side has scored 11 goals and conceded only nine so far, resulting in a goal difference of plus two.

With Abdoulie Ceesay currently the top scorer with four goals, the team also has a reliable figure in attack. Ceesay scored most recently in first-half stoppage time during the 1-1 draw in Hannover on 17 October. Securing Ben Voll is a clear commitment to continuity within an ambitious squad that currently trails league leaders Hertha BSC by 13 points. Bornemann added: "It is a good signal that we can keep a player like Ben, who has shown such consistently good performances this season, with us for the long term."
