A young FC St. Pauli fan was verbally abused and threatened with having his jersey burned on school grounds. The incident, captured on video, sparked a widespread reaction and led to a clear statement from the club.
The teenager, who plays football in the D-Jugend, reportedly met a friend for a kickabout on school property. His friend was wearing a St. Pauli jersey. An older student, believed to be in the tenth or eleventh grade, confronted them and made derogatory comments about the club. "Scheiß St. Pauli, mehr Politik als Fußball," the perpetrator said, later threatening, "Ich verbrenne das Trikot." The abuse also included homophobic and racist slurs.
The victim, active under the Instagram account Charlie.Majka, posted a recording of the incident. The video quickly amassed over 550,000 views and 65,000 likes. FC St. Pauli responded swiftly, sharing the clip in its own Story and commenting with an applauding emoji. The club has long been known for its public stance against political discrimination and for LGBTQ+ rights.
The affected fan later commented on the event. Charlie.Majka said: "Ich mag es nicht gerne, über das Thema Politik zu reden. Aber ich glaube, es ist Zeit, dass ich meine Stimme dagegen wenden muss."
Unwavering Focus on Sport
While the club defends its societal values, the sporting focus remains undimmed. Fabian Hürzeler's team currently sits 7th in the 2. Bundesliga with 12 points and is unbeaten in its last five matches (one win, four draws). The recent results, including a 0-0 draw at SV Darmstadt 98, can be tracked in our standings. On Saturday, the next challenge awaits at the Millerntor against second-placed 1. FC Nürnberg. Preparations for this important home fixture are underway.
