FC St. Pauli has banned the use of Smart Glasses inside its stadium. The second-division club has updated its stadium regulations to prohibit so-called Smart Glasses and similar wearable devices with camera or audio recording functions. The club announced the move on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, at 2 p.m.

The rule is intended to create a safe environment where visitors feel comfortable. It aims to prevent unauthorised recordings and protect the privacy of all attendees. Exceptions will be made for individuals who require such devices for medical or other legitimate reasons. Smartphones are exempt from the ban. Stadium staff will be trained to identify the prohibited devices.

Decision After Consultation

The decision was made following consultations with fan groups and other stakeholders. "FC St. Pauli is updating its stadium regulations and will henceforth prohibit so-called Smart Glasses as well as comparable body-worn devices with camera or audio recording functions," the club said in an official statement. It emphasised the goal of "creating the safest possible framework in which visitors feel comfortable". The new rule takes effect immediately for all events at the Millerntor.

The club is currently in a stable period. In the 2. Bundesliga, they sit seventh in the table with 12 points from nine matches. Their recent form is unbeaten, with one win and four draws from the last five games. The most recent match was a 0-0 draw away to SV Darmstadt 98 on 23 October.

On Saturday, 31 October, the next major challenge awaits at the Millerntor with second-placed 1. FC Nürnberg. The team's top scorer this season is Abdoulie Ceesay with four goals in seven appearances. Coach Fabian Hürzeler's side aims to maintain the positive atmosphere in the stadium, bolstered by the new rule, for the upcoming home fixture.
